Auto Racing Tracks

There are so many auto racing tracks that can be found all over the world. In the UK there are different types of circuits such as permanent, street, inactive circuits, hillclimb and sprint venues. While in the US, there are dirt ovals, drag strips, paved ovals, road courses and temporary circuits. Let's hop on quickly on how racetracks began in our history.

The first ever racetrack was created during the ancient civilizations specifically by Ancient Greeks. Although it was intended for chariot and horse racing, it became the foundation of how auto racing tracks emerged in the motorsport scene. When automobiles were developed in the 19th century, people transformed the conventional horse track to a modern auto track where people can compete using their racing cars.

One of the most famous and oldest tracks in the United States is called the Indianapolis Motor Speedway built in 1909. The board tracks or high banked wooden race became popular in early 20s. The modern racetracks are built with complete safety measures to avoid unwanted accidents during the race. The world's famous Monaco Grand Prix is a temporary or non-permanent type of circuit intended for the Formula One racing.

NASCAR is usually held in different auto racing tracks in America such as the Asheville-Weaverville Speedway, Charlotte Speedway, Forsyth County Fairgrounds and Occoneechee Speedway in North Carolina.
